Response bias is statistical bias caused by systematic inaccuracies in answers or recorded responses. It can result from question wording, the behavior of an interviewer, imperfect recall, or a respondent's tendency to give a socially desirable answer. It is distinct from nonresponse bias, in which sampled units fail to respond.
