Quintile

A quintile is one of the four quantile cut points that divide a distribution into five groups of equal probability or a data set into five groups of approximately equal size. The four quintiles are the 1/5-, 2/5-, 3/5-, and 4/5-quantiles. The term "quintile" is also commonly used for one of the five resulting groups, which may be distinguished as quintile groups or fifths.
