Qubit

A qubit (or quantum bit) is the analog of a bit for quantum computation. Unlike an ordinary bit, which may only assume two possible values (usually called 0 and 1), a qubit may assume a continuum of values of the form a|0>+b|1> where a and b are arbitrary complex numbers satisfying |a|^2+|b|^2=1.
