Positive Definite Tensor

A positive definite tensor is a tensor g of type (0,2) whose associated symmetric bilinear form on a real vector space satisfies

 g(v,v)>0

for every nonzero vector v.

In two dimensions, this is equivalent to g_(11)>0 together with

 g_(11)g_(22)-g_(12)^2>0.
