Parisi Functional

The Parisi functional is a variational functional encoding hierarchical overlap parameters of a mean-field spin glass. In the zero-temperature Gaussian Sherrington-Kirkpatrick convention with covariance xi(t)=t^2/2, admissible parameters are nonnegative nondecreasing right-continuous functions gamma on [0,1) with int_0^1gamma(t)dt<infty. The value function solves

 Phi_t=-1/2(Phi_(xx)+gamma(t)Phi_x^2),

with terminal value Phi(1,x)=|x|. The functional is

 P(gamma)=Phi_gamma(0,0)-1/2int_0^1tgamma(t)dt.

Its minimum is the limiting expected maximum energy per spin of this model. Define the Stieltjes measure by mu_gamma([0,t])=gamma(t). It is locally finite but need not be a probability measure or have finite total mass.
