The Pappus spiral is the name given to the conical spiral with parametric equations
by Ferréol. It was studied by Pappus in the 4th century BC, Pascal in 1779, and Chasles in 1843 (Ferréol).
It is essentially the same as the "general form" of the conical
spiral.
