Mixed Cage

A mixed cage is a finite mixed graph without loops or multiple edges, of minimum vertex count for prescribed undirected degree r, indegree and outdegree z, and girth g. The girth is the length of a shortest cycle respecting the orientation of each directed graph edge. Write the minimum order as n(r,z,g).

De la Cruz and Pizaña (2026) proved that, for positive integers r,z>=1,

 n(r,z,3)=r+2z+1.

They also proved

 n(r,z,4)=2r+4z

when r>=2z-2. These results concern mixed graphs, not ordinary undirected cage graphs.
