Million

The number 1000000=10^6. While one million in the "American" system of numbers means the same thing as one million in the "British" system, the words billion, trillion, etc., refer to different numbers in the two naming systems. Fortunately, in recent years, the "American" system has become common in both the United States and Britain.

While Americans may say "Thanks a million" to express gratitude, Norwegians offer "Thanks a thousand" ("tusen takk").
