Lin-Lu-Yau Curvature

Lin-Lu-Yau curvature is a notion of curvature on a finite connected simple graph with at least two vertices. For 0<=alpha<1, let mu_x^alpha give mass alpha to vertex x and distribute the remaining mass equally among its neighbors. For distinct vertices x and y, define

 kappa_alpha(x,y)=1-(W_1(mu_x^alpha,mu_y^alpha))/(d(x,y)),

where d is graph distance and W_1 is the Wasserstein distance for that distance. The Lin-Lu-Yau curvature is

 kappa_(LLY)(x,y)=lim_(alpha->1)(kappa_alpha(x,y))/(1-alpha).

Zhou and Zhang (2026) proved that a graph with graph diameter at least 3 has edge connectivity lambda>=(3/2)deltakappa_(min), where delta is its minimum vertex degree and kappa_(min) is the minimum Lin-Lu-Yau curvature over edges. For graph diameter 2, they proved lambda>=deltakappa_(min).
