Isosurface

An isosurface of a scalar function f:R^3->R is a level set {(x,y,z):f(x,y,z)=c} for a fixed value c. At points where the gradient of f is nonzero, the implicit function theorem makes the isosurface a smooth surface whose normal direction is del f.
