Hénon-Lane-Emden Conjecture

The Hénon-Lane-Emden conjecture predicts nonexistence of positive entire solutions of a weighted elliptic system in its subcritical range. For n>=3, positive exponents p,q, and real weights a,b>-2, the classical formulation uses solutions continuous on R^n and twice continuously differentiable away from the origin. The system is

 -Deltau=||x||^av^p, and -Deltav=||x||^bu^q.

The subcritical condition is

 (n+a)/(p+1)+(n+b)/(q+1)>n-2.

The unweighted case a=b=0 is the Lane-Emden system. This coupled system is different from the radial scalar Lane-Emden differential equation.
