Fujita Freeness Conjecture

The Fujita freeness conjecture asserts that on a smooth projective variety X of dimension n, the adjoint line bundle K_X+(n+1)L is generated by global sections for every ample line bundle L. Additive notation denotes tensor powers and products of line bundles. Global generation means that at every point some global section is nonzero. It does not require L itself to have a section.

For X=P^n and L=O(1), this adjoint is trivial, whereas K_X+nL has no nonzero sections, showing sharpness of the exponent.
