Foulkes-Howe Map

The Foulkes-Howe map is the canonical equivariant map comparing two orders of iterated symmetric powers. In one direction convention it is

 mu_(a,b):Sym^b(Sym^aV)->Sym^a(Sym^bV).

Over the complex numbers, it is obtained by embedding into V^( tensor ab) using symmetrization, exchanging the rows and columns of the rectangular array of factors, and projecting onto the target symmetric powers. The direction convention is part of the notation.
