Eistüte Surface

eistute surface with its singular axis marked in orange

The Eistüte surface is the sextic surface

 (x^2+y^2)^3=4x^2y^2(z^2+1),

named by Hauser. Its German name means "ice-cream cone" (Real Sociedad Matemática Española 2011, p. 63). Its singular points form the z-axis.

The cross section by a horizontal plane z=c is a four-leaved rose curve. In polar coordinates its equation is

 r^2=(1+c^2)sin^2(2theta).

Thus all horizontal cross sections have the same shape, scaled by sqrt(1+c^2).
