Bloch Conjecture

The Bloch conjecture for surfaces asserts that the Albanese homomorphism

 alb_S:CH_0(S)^0->Alb(S)(C)

is an isomorphism for every smooth connected projective complex surface S with p_g(S)=0. Here the Chow group has integral coefficients, p_g(S)=h^0(S,K_S) is the geometric genus, and q(S)=h^1(S,O_S) is the irregularity. The Albanese homomorphism records the Abelian-variety image of a degree-zero zero-cycle.

When also q(S)=0, the Albanese variety is a point and the assertion becomes

 deg:CH_0(S)->Z

being an isomorphism. In this case any two complex points are rationally equivalent.
