Beth Number

A beth number is a member of the sequence of infinite cardinals indexed by ordinals, starting with ℶ_0=aleph_0 and continuing by ℶ_(alpha+1)=2^(ℶ_alpha) at a successor ordinal and ℶ_lambda=sup_(alpha<lambda)ℶ_alpha at a nonzero limit ordinal. Cardinal exponentiation here gives the cardinality of a power set.

Thus ℶ_1 is the cardinality of the continuum. Under the continuum hypothesis, 2^(aleph_0)=aleph_1, so the ordinal used to index ℶ_((2^(aleph_0))^+) is omega_2. This prescribed threshold occurs in one formulation of the eventual categoricity conjecture for abstract elementary classes.
