Banach's Simple Lebesgue Spectrum Problem

The probability-preserving form of Banach's simple Lebesgue spectrum problem asks for an invertible measure-preserving map T on a nonatomic probability space such that its Koopman operator on L_0^2(X,mu) is unitarily equivalent to multiplication by z on L^2(S^1,m), where m is normalized Lebesgue measure on the unit circle. Equivalently, there must be a function f in L_0^2(X,mu) such that

 {f degreesT^n:n in Z}

is a complete orthonormal basis of L_0^2(X,mu). The requirement concerns the entire mean-zero subspace, rather than one spectral component.
