Wolfram Technology Conference 2004 to Be Held October 21-23
By Eric W. Weisstein
July 7, 2004--The 2004 Wolfram Technology Conference will be held this October 21-23 at Wolfram Research's World Headquarters in Champaign, Illinois. Authors, students, educators, and developers who use Mathematica and other Wolfram products are invited to attend this event, which promises to be both exciting and information-packed.
This year's conference expands on the Mathematica Developer Conferences of years past (see, for example, presentation notebooks from 2003) by extending the focus to both a broader audience and a wider range of Wolfram products and initiatives. In particular, the conference will highlight both the new technical authoring tool Publicon and initiatives arising from Stephen Wolfram's groundbreaking book A New Kind of Science. As in past conferences, participants will get an inside look at exciting and powerful upcoming Mathematica features from the developers working on them. In addition, this year's conference will include contributed talks, a new student presentation forum, an art gallery, tutorials, hands-on workshops, and problem-solving clinics.
The Wolfram Technology Conference will cover a wide range of topics. Special sessions will be held to illustrate how users have applied Mathematica to their work and fields of interest and have built their own custom solutions based on Wolfram technologies. Innovations to be showcased this year include algorithm development, biocomputing, computer-assisted art, distributed computing, educational technology, experimental mathematics, modeling and simulation, programming methodologies, scientific computing, symbolic document processing, technical business analysis, user interface technology, visualization, and web technologies.
Participants will also get a chance to meet noted scientist, author, and Mathematica creator Stephen Wolfram. MathWorld author and creator Eric Weisstein will also be in attendance, so feel free to come armed with comments, questions, and suggestions for the continued expansion and development of the world's most popular mathematics website.
Authors of interesting Mathematica applications, packages, and posters are encouraged to submit presentation proposals to the organizing committee. Formal talks, poster presentations, and demos will all be considered. Applicants should submit abstracts by email to conference-sub@wolfram.com. Additional information is available on the conference website: http://www.wolfram.com/news/events/techconf2004. The abstract submission deadline is July 31, the registration deadline is October 15, and space is limited for attendees and presenters, so act now to ensure a spot in the 2004 Wolfram Technology Conference.
