NKS 2003 Conference in Boston
April 30--An upcoming conference and minicourse devoted to the concepts in Stephen Wolfram's influential and groundbreaking book A New Kind of Science (NKS) will take place this June 27-29 in Boston. NKS 2003 will be the first conference devoted to the development of the ideas published by Wolfram in his popular and much-discussed book (see MathWorld news story, May 14, 2002), and will bring together students and scientists from a variety of fields and from around the world.
The conference follows a highly successful lecture tour by entrepreneur, scientist, and author Wolfram, who spoke to packed auditoriums nationwide about the ideas and discoveries presented in his book (see MathWorld news story, October 23, 2002).
In addition to special sessions and workshops, NKS 2003 will also feature panel discussions with scientific experts, poster and demo sessions, and a gallery of artwork based on the principles expounded in A New Kind of Science.
A highlight of the conference will be a unique series of lectures covering key facets of the basic science and applications of A New Kind of Science by Stephen Wolfram himself.
The conference will take place at The Westin Waltham-Boston with an opening reception the evening of June 26. An optional Mathematica training course will also be offered on June 26. Registration for NKS 2003 can be completed online at http://wolframscience.com/conference/2003/register.cgi. Since space is limited, potential attendees are encouraged to register soon.
