Complex Addition

Two complex numbers z=x+iy and z^'=x^'+iy^' are added together componentwise,

 z+z^'=(x+x^')+i(y+y^').

In component form,

 (x,y)+(x^',y^')=(x+x^',y+y^')

(Krantz 1999, p. 1).
